The Eyes of Tāwhirimātea

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we read the story of “The Eyes of Tāwhirimātea”.  Do you know the story? You can read it below. Click on the audio buttons to listen to the story.

We did lots of mahi with click, hold, drag then drop using both hands on our touchpad. We labelled the characters from the story, we inserted images and resized them, we also inserted icons or images to set goals.

We created a hākari | feast for Matariki and set some goals – things we want to get better at.

Here is Noah’s mahi. Would you like to share his hākari? HE has got yummy food on his plate.

Matariki – Draw a Star using Geobaord

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we learned how to Draw a Star with 2 triangles using Geoboard

Then we had to take a screenshot of your triangle and insert it in our slides.

Take a look at some of our Mahi. The students names are on their Star.

What shapes do you think you can make on Geoboard?

Private & Personal Information

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we talked about personal information that we could share online and about private information that we must now share online.

Do you know the difference?

We used drag and drop to sort information to show we understand the difference.

Here is Poseidon’s mahi…

Smart Footprint

Today we were talking about our digital footprint and how it is made. Everytime we are online and tap a key or click or move on our touchpad we are adding to our digital footprint. Our digital footprint never goes away! So we need to be smart learners and create a positive footprint.

Today we remembered how to take screenshots. We created a footprint with icons of sites we use.

Here is our mahi from today…

Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu – Nō hea koe?

Nō hea koe? Where are you from?

We are in a Manaiakalani Network programme called Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atu.

We have got 2 blogging buddies. They are Room 4 @ Glen Innes School and Sameera Class @ Hay Park School
We take turns at reading each other’s blogs and commenting on the posts.
Here are our 3 schools.
Have you been to the places where these schools are?

Riverdale Primary School is in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa/Gisborne.
Hay Park School is in Tamaki Mākaurau /Auckland.
Weymouth Primary School is  in Tamaki Mākaurau /Auckland.
Let’s fly around Aotearoa/New Zealand and find our schools.

Creating Original Images

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were learning how to create our own images by using the Camera App and taking Screenshots with our Chromebook. If we create our own images we own them and then we can use them wherever we want to.

We learned how to use the 3 second timer on the Camera App so that we could position using the Golden Ratio before the shutter button clicks. We took a photo of ourselves and then one of a book we like to read.

We took Screenshots using the shortcut and able to take just a portion of the screen. We took screenshots of our teacher’s photo on our class site and then the Reading button on the Home page.

Do you know how to use the Camera App or to take Screenshots?

Here are the screenshots of some of the books we like to read. What is your favourite book?

Drawing in Google Slides

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we drew more animals in Google Slides.

We found out that the menu is the same as Google Drawing when we are creating images.

We learned that by being creative we can create our own images and use them wherever we want to because we own them.

Here is some of our mahi. Can you tell what shapes were used to create these animals?
