Real or Fake?

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were looking at images and deciding if they were real or fake.

Then we created a fake animal ourselves by combining 2 animals together. We removed backgrounds and used the magic eraser so we only had the parts we needed. We added a background so it looked real.

Then we made an image of an animal in a place where you wouldn’t usually wouldn’t see them. Some of us used a short video and we could remove the background on this as well. Some of us used custom animation to make a still image move.

Here is Jayden’s awesome animal. Can you tell which 2 animals he used?

What is Media?

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were thinking about Media, what it is, where we see it and what we use.

Then we used Canva and created a video about the media we use. We had to search for icons or images. We added them and thought about animating them so they move and catch our eye. Some of use inserted a photo of us and turned it into a silhouette by adjusting the brightness and contrast. We added a background that fits and doesn’t take over the design.

We had to rename our project and share it into a folder so our teacher can see our work.

We will complete these next week.

Pepeha

Today in our Cybersamrt lesson we worked on creating our Pepeha in Canva.
We added to the pepeha and then inserted elements to decorate our mahi.
We will continue to work on these but here is some of our mahi so far…

Animated Drawings with AI

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we animated some art in Sketch Lab

First we drew a figure on plain white paper. We had to make sure the arms and legs were well defined! Then we took a photo of it with our Chromebook camera. Then we could upload that into Sketch Lab and animate it. There were lots of animations to choose from.

Here is some of our mahi from today. You have to click on the links to view the animations.

Extraordinary Earthworms

We have read the book “Extraordinary Earthworms” in class. We found out lots about this creature. Did you know that they can eat the equivalent of 150 bananas per day?

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we played Blooket and the quiz was about Extraordinary Earthworms. We had lots of fun. We played it live together first where speed and accuracy gave us points.

Here is the result. Ka pai tō mahi Hero!

Then we played it individually in the Tower of Doom. Mrs Torrie set the Blooket as a “Homework” task. When you play it like this you can get it to read the questions and answers to you.

You can see who was leading the way just before interval.

Animated Name

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we carried on with our Animated Names in Canva.

Today we made sure our first frame was exactly how we wanted it. Then we duplicated it. On the 2nd frame we rearranged the elements and mixed them up. Then we duplicated frame 1 again and made sure it was 3rd. We added transitions to the frames and used “Match & Move” which makes the elements seem to glide over the screen. We added audio to our presentation.

This mahi showed how powerful duplicating is so we didn’t have to remake anything.

Here is some of our mahi.

Khaedin missed last week’s lesson but he caught up today by working hard at his presentation.

Animated Names – Part 1

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we started a Canva project to animate our names.

It took us. while to set up Canva folders but we eventually got started. We used a presentation and searched elements to find letters of our name so we could spell it. We also learned how to rename our project and to share it into a folder so our teachers could see our mahi as we work on it.

We mostly got our first slide done and next week we will work on the animation.

Here is some of our mahi so far. Come back next week to see our finished animations

Tangrams

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were creating tangrams. We used the Tangram Builder on Mathigon – an online tool.

If you click on a shape in Mathigon it will give you the outline to help you. We had to rotate some shapes to make them fit and we had to use all 7 pieces in our Tangram. We took a screenshot of our tangram and inserted it into the slides below.

Click here if you would like to try to create Tangrams.

Which shape do you think is the easiest to make? Which one do you think is the most difficult?

Draw an Ice Cream

Today we were creating an ice cream in Google Slides.

We hadn image to show us what it would look like. We found the shapes we needed. We learned to day to make the border transparent so that when we put lots of shapes together and coloured them the same they looked like one shape. The chocolate topping is made of a hemisphere and 6 circles. We duplicated this and made the scoop of ice cream to go under it. Can you guess what shape we used to make the sprinkles?

Here are some of our delicious, yummy, chocolate dipped, sprinkle covered ice creams. What is your favourite flavour?

The 7 Fish of Matariki

Have you read the story “The 7 Fish of Matariki”? You can read it below. Click on the audio buttons to hear the story.

Ruma Tuatahi read the story today and then created the stars of Matariki using shapes in Google Slides. We created one shape, colour filled it and made the border transparent. Once we had done that we duplicated it, resized, rotated then placed it over the original star. In this way we could make a star with many points.

We also tried to place them in the formation as we see them in the sky. Did you know that Matariki is the biggest one? We also inserted a background by searching for “night sky”. We found some effective backgrounds.

Here is our mahi from today.
